Boars bag rare away win
3:00pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012

Huddersfield 10, Bromsgrove 16
BROMSGROVE recorded their second away win of the season with a fine display at promotion-chasing Huddersfield in National Two North.
Having beaten the same opposition at home earlier in the season, the Boars were confident victory was well within their capabilities.
On a very heavy pitch, the visitors dominated the early stages and were rewarded after five minutes with a Jon Critchlow penalty.
This was nearly cancelled out a minute later when the hosts were awarded a kick of their own but Chris Johnson, the league’s leading scorer, missed the chance.
Bromsgrove capitalised on this let off to score the game’s first try through Aaron Higgins, after a fine break from skipper Tom Warren.
Critchlow nearly scored again moments later but was held up short of the line and the Boars were perhaps guilty of over-confidence, as a counter-attack broke down and Johnson went over for the hosts. He added the conversion to bring his side within a point.
However, the Bromsgrove response was excellent and the rampaging Burrows made a great hole in the centre of the park, with Lloyd-Jones again on hand to put Critchlow over for a 13-7 lead at the half.
The Boars kicker extended the lead with a penalty at the start of the second-half, as the visitors continued to hold the upper hand.
But they missed chances to pull further clear and the hosts rallied late on.
Johnson kicked a penalty to bring the scores within a converted try and yellow cards for Blackburn and Ward reduced Bromsgrove to 13 for the final five minutes but they held out to clinch a deserved win.
