Knox treble condemns the Spa
8:00am Thursday 2nd February 2012
Droitwich 20 Barkers Butts 25
DROITWICH were taught a lesson in finishing by Midlands Two West (South) leaders.
The Spa side were unable to convert their possession into points and were beaten in the final minutes by a converted third try from centre Rob Knox before a penalty sealed the victory.
Butts scored first through Aaron Newman, but Nathan Tilsley missed the conversion.
Alex Saddington crashed over for a try which Bobby Scott-Walker converted.
Droitwich were then awarded a penalty and Scott-Walker’s attempt hit the post and in the scramble to clear their lines Barker Butts spilled the ball allowing Iain Young to score under the posts. Scott-Walker added the conversion.
Butts responded with Knox crashing through the Droitwich defence to score. Tilsley missed the conversion.
Droitwich added a penalty through Scott-Walker, but Knox was on hand again to grab a try out wide.
Following another Scott-Walker penalty, Knox notched his third try, and Tilsley added the extra points.
With time running out, Droitwich were penalised for not releasing and Tilsley’s penalty sealed the win.
