9:00am Friday 27th January 2012
Old Leamingtonians 7, Droitwich 49
DROITWICH RFC under-12s recorded an excellent win over Old Leamingtonians.A closely contested first period saw both teams give little away in a contest mostly battled out between the 22 metre lines.
With the first quarter drawing to a close, a sustained attack from the Droitwich forwards saw Tai Brown cross to open the scoring. David Purchase kicked the conversion to give the Spartans a 7-0 lead.Leamingtonians came roaring back at the start of the second period and missed tackles allowed them to score and draw level at 7-7.
But from then on it was all Droitwich as James Harris fed Purchase to score the first of his two tries.Half-time changes gave the visitors line-up a fresher look and a jinking run from George Taylor saw him score try number three.Taylor added another soon after, completing a sweeping move, while Harris scored the fifth try under the posts.Purchase got his second and knocked over the conversion to finish with 22 points, while Ben Hawkes raced over for the final score.
